A parameterised model of maize stem cross-sectional morphology

چکیده
Stalk lodging, or failure of the stalk structure, is a serious problem in production maize (corn). Addressing this requires an understanding parameters that influence lodging resistance. Computational modelling powerful tool for purpose, but current methods have limited throughput and do not provide ability to modify individual geometric features. A parameterised model has potential overcome these limitations. The purposes study were (a) develop cross-section could accurately simulate physical response multiple loading cases, (b) use rigorously investigate relationships between cross-sectional morphology predictive accuracy. Principal component analysis was utilised reveal underlying patterns which used as model. series approximated cross-sections created represented various levels fidelity. true modelled axial tension/compression, bending, transverse compression, torsion. For each case, accuracy calculated. sensitivity also performed quantify parameters. simplest model, elliptical consisting just three parameters: major diameter, minor rind thickness, predicted structural stiffness all four cases. approach can be parameterise any desired level fidelity, applied other plant species.

Determinants of Institutional Delivery in Ethiopia: A cross-sectional study
Background & aim: Government of Ethiopia is promoting institutional delivery despite the fact that there are a high number of home deliveries in the country mainly in hard-to-reach areas. Choice of institutional delivery is vital for the reduction of maternal and neonatal mortalities. The present study aimed to investigate the determinants of institutional delivery in ...
متن کاملPerception of Nonnative Accent: A Cross-Sectional Perspective Pilot Survey
Accent bias is a consequence of ethnocentrism. No studies have examined accent bias across educational levels in the U.S., much less across students and professionals in speech language pathology (SLP), a field that requires multicultural sensitivity training. This study examines nonnative accent perception among three groups—high schoolers, SLP students, and SLP professionals. One-hundred-and-...
متن کاملNoise exposure and risk of hypertension: a cross-sectional study
Abstract Background: Previous studies have indicated an unspecific correlation between noise exposure and blood pressure disturbances. Blood pressure disturbances could be caused by the environmental hazards such as noise exposure. The aim of this study is to analyze whether there is a relationship between noise exposure and hypertension. Methods: Atotal sample of 218 workers workin...
متن کاملMEFV mutations in Northwest of Iran: a cross sectional study
Objective(s):Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF) is an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of fever accompanied by peritonitis, pleurisy, and arthritis. FMF affects mainly Mediterranean populations and is caused by mutations in the familial Mediterranean fever (MEFV) gene. The aim of this study was to identify the frequency and distribution of MEFV mutations in Irani...
